Medication Policy
At Hyde Park Veterinary Hospital, our top priority is providing high-quality medical care for your pets. Over the past few years, we have seen a significant increase in the time our veterinarians and staff spend managing medication prescriptions. This includes handling incomplete or error-filled requests, resolving pharmacy-related issues, and addressing other prescription-related matters. Unfortunately, these tasks take valuable time away from direct patient care and add considerable operational costs.
We believe it is unfair to pass these additional costs on to all clients by raising our general service fees.
Prescription Policy
At Hyde Park Veterinary Hospital, we strive to provide efficient and responsible prescription services while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- No prescription writing fee will be charged if we do not carry the medication in our pharmacy or are unable to obtain it for you.
- A prescription writing fee will apply to all other prescriptions. This fee must be paid in advance before the prescription is prepared and sent.
- All prescriptions are final and non-refundable, as they cannot be returned to stock once issued.
Additional Information
- Prescriptions are issued only when medically appropriate and in full compliance with veterinary regulations and standards of care.
- Controlled substances are subject to additional federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Refills are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may require a re-examination and/or additional diagnostics.
